On Saturday, January 26, 2012, the Central Working Committee of The Future Awards held its National Enterprise Conference which featured a number of influential personalities as speakers.

This included the likes of actors Stephanie Linus, Rita Dominic, movie director Kunle Afolayan, Jason Njoku of Iroko TV, Steve Babaeko of X3M Ideas, and fashion designer Bridget Awosika.

Others were Kola Oyeneyin of Venia Hub, Otto Orondaam of SLUM2School Project, Ugochukwu Nwosu of Microsoft, Idris Akinbanjo of Premium Times, Ola Orekunrin of Flying Doctors, Bayo Omoboriowo, Idiare Itimomo, Adaure Achumba, Toni Kan and Chibuike Aguene.

The event also featured show host Mo Abudu and Nestle’s Iquo Ukoh sharing their life experiences.

"I was once a bus conductor" - Joseph Benjamin

Nollywood actor and TV host, Joseph Benjamin is popular for dropping shockers whenever he is on radio. Afetr the shocking revelation about his split from his wife on Reel Radio, the father of two has again dropped another bomb.

On Thursday, January 24, 2013, Benjamin, while on the Talk About It show with Inspiration FM OAP, Wana Udobang, revealed that he was, at one point, a bus conductor, struggling to make ends meet. He advised his fans to look beyond his flashy achievements, saying that none of it came easy.

Benjamin said he had to engage in different menial jobs, including selling shoes at Balogun market and being a commercial bus conductor, ‘I’ve moved from being a bus conductor, security guard, waiter, worked in a Bakery, sold shoes at Balogun, then moved into IT before acting‘  he said.

He advised his fans who aspire to be as successful as he is to ‘Keep improving your craft. Nourish that which you have. Be your own inspiration’ he said. And to those who hope to start businesses, Benjamin said, ‘Understand your market before you decide what you want to do‘.

Chuks and Ene of Tinsel become couple in real life

Florence Uwaleke and Ike Okechukwu, popularly known as Chuks and Ene of the popular television soap opera "Tinsel" got married traditionally on the 25th January, which was Ene's birthday as well. The beauty of the wedding is the fact that the actor and actress are playing the role of a couple in the ongoing Mnet soap (Tinsel). Well, you might say the love grew while they were on set or maybe the scripts made the proposal easier for Chuks........... 'LOL'.

"I worked hard to win the West African Idol, but Timi Dakolo won" - Omawumi

After coming second at the first West African Idol in 2007, singer Omawumi Megbele has gone ahead to become a force in the music sector. Her jovial nature and distinct sense of style have helped her gain acceptance.
In this interview, she tells us of her plans for marriage, her baby and her career.

What informed your change of hairstyle?
I always make different hairstyles, but whenever I want to get on stage, I know I have a signature look. I try different things. I like my afro look and I advise everybody gets one too, irrespective of the desire to experiment with other styles.

 Popular blogger Linda Ikeji and Nollywood's Jim Iyke, have started the new year on a bickering note.
On Saturday, Linda posted an unclad photo of Jim Iyke with the caption ‘Jim Iyke Shows Off Six Pack’ and added the following underneath, ‘Every time I write about this dude he comes after me on Twitter, but I must do my job na…lol. Nice body’ she wrote.

And true to her premonition, the actor has hit back at her on Twitter.

Tribute Night for Late Pete Eneh by the AGN

The candle light night by the Actors' Guild of Nigeria for late veteran actor Pete Eneh, will hold on Monday January 21 at Ossisatec, Lower Ogui Rd Junction in Enugu. Road walk from 3-4pm, while the candle light procession to New Berries park Enugu 7-8pm. Dress code is white.

The talented singer plays a married mother, acting alongside Femi Jacobs, Patrick Doyle, Nse Ikpe Etim and others in a movie directed by Stanley Ohikhuare. The movie tells the story of a young pastor (Adebayo) and his wife (Waje) who battle to save their daughter’s life and their troubled marriage.

Nigezie caught up with Tonto on the set of her debut video, she was asked about D’banj’s statement and here is what she had to say.

Tonto says she will definitely consider D’banj’s offer; however, she might start up her own label and as “it will do very well considering the fact that I have all the resources to make it work“.

While Sunmbo Ajaba is one of Tuface's babymamas and also the CEO of ESOB Events. Sunmbo is one of the choristers in his church. Primarily, it has taken a lot of time because I signed a couple of new artistes and I have been working onEME as a company and on the artiste’s individual careers; we started out with Wizkid and then we brought in Skales, who is doing so well, and now we have Shaydee, Niyola and DJ Xclusive.

Gideon Okeke hosts 'The Money Drop Nigeria"

Charles Inojie in a paternity mess after wedding...........

There's an Abuja based 29 year old woman, Lynn Nguseer Adi, who is accusing newly married actor Charles Inojie of being the father of her young daughter. Lynn said she and Charles dated for 10 months in 2011 and he was all over her until she got pregnant. She claims Charles Nnojie was initially cool with the pregnancy, but when she was three months, he asked her to get an abortion.

He has been regarded as a rebel in different quarters for his supposed anti-progressive stand on the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, but in this interview, the Imo state born actor talks extensively about Nollywood, why he feels misunderstood by colleagues, and his plans for the guild.

Let’s start with your chieftaincy title. Why do you think you were made Ezekwesili in Anambra state, far from your home state of Imo?

I don’t know exactly what it is but perhaps it is in recognition of my efforts to make things better. It was not until I took the title home that I discovered I’m from a royal family too, although I didn’t get the title from my place. My father is the Opara-di-Opara (the man that gets to have the first anything in that community) of my village in Imo state.

On Monday, December 24, 2012, Monalisa Chinda staged her ‘Project Help: A Dance for Life’, stage play at the Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island.

Hosted by Segun Arinze and Bimbo Akintola, the novel Christmas dance production featured an interesting array of  movie stars such as Kate Henshaw, Desmond Elliot, Monalisa Chinda,  Bovi and the Bailamos Dance Company who delivered electrifying performances, thrilling Christmas recitals that moved the guests.

The event was organized and produced by Monalisacode Productions and guests included Stephanie Okereke, Charles Novia, Tonye Cole, Rucky Sanda,  Kingsley Ogoro, Chioma Chukwuma, Halima Abubakar, Zik Zulu Okafor and many others.

“I Feel Insulted” – Veteran Nollywood Actor Pete Edochie Responds to Death Hoax

In December 2012, reports surfaced online that 65 year old Nigerian actor Pete Edochie was dead after falling from a 50 ft building at a video shoot in Austria. Not long after, a rep for the Egg of Life actor released a statement that the veteran big screen star is indeed alive.

In a short video interview by WAOH Naija held on Friday 4th December 2012, Pete Edochie speaks on the death hoax and how he feels insulted by a certain Hyacinth Peter, who according to Pete broke the news on social networking site – Facebook.

Pete Edochie, who calls the incident funny,  also speaks on how the news caused a lot of worry and anxiety in his family and thank God he is alive.

Chidinma Wins Best West African (Female) Category at the 2012 KORA Awards

On December 30th 2012, MTN Project Fame season 3 winner, Chidinma won the esteemed KORA Award for Best West African (Female) category. The event was held in Abidjan, Cote D ivoire and was star studded with international superstars Chris Brown and Rihanna in attendance; as well as Nigerian music stars, P-Square. Chidinma’s award was presented by African soccer icon, Didier Drogba.

The twenty two year old songstress took the Nigerian music industry by storm in 2011 with her smash single “Kedike” and went on to win the hearts of many fans across Africa.

She is currently signed to the Capital Goretti Joint Music Company, owned by rap icon iLLBLISS and ace music video director/filmmaker, Clarence Peters.
